"I really dream about having a team of analysts and scientists who make these tools available online for everyone, for every biologist, to just empower people to do the greatest science."

Meet Johanna Perens
Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer, Vibraint ApS
Johanna Perens is a co-founder and the Chief Technology Officer at Vibraint ApS (Virtual Brain Technologies), the Copenhagen-based preclinical contract research organization helping neuroscientists study the brain through whole brain imaging.
Johanna holds a background in biomedical physics from the Technical University of Munich, where she completed her bachelor's and master's degrees, followed by a PhD in computer science in Denmark. She then moved into industry, where she has worked with image analysis for many years. This combination of physics, computation, and applied imaging shapes the technical direction she now leads at Vibraint.
As CTO, Johanna leads the development of Vibraint's software platform, which spans two connected tracks. The first is analysis, where her team builds AI-assisted, state-of-the-art algorithms to extract meaningful, quantitative information from large and complex brain imaging datasets. The second is CNS-Voyager, the brain viewer platform that places analyzed data into an interactive 3D space, allowing scientists to explore their results alongside statistical datasets and integrate complementary modalities such as MRI and spatial transcriptomics.
Her driving aim is to make complex brain data easier to understand and explore, deepening understanding of brain diseases and accelerating drug discovery for CNS disorders.
